The Association of Cyprus Tourism Enterprises (ACTE) is delighted to launch the photography competition “Memories Made in Cyprus” as part of its ongoing strategy to showcase Cyprus as a premium, sustainable, and authentic travel destination.

The competition is held under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Office of the Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare.

The competition aims to highlight the beauty, culture, and unique experiences that Cyprus offers, as seen through the lens of professional and amateur photographers alike.

COMPETITION THEME

Photographs should authentically capture the elements that make Cyprus an attractive tourism destination, such as:

  • Culture and heritage
  • Nature, landscapes, and landmarks
  • People and everyday life
  • Sea and beaches
  • Cultural heritage and traditions

Guidelines

  1. ELIGIBILITY TO ENTER
  • Open to both professional and amateur photographers.
  • Participants must be the sole creators and copyright holders of the submitted photographs.
  • Members of the judging commitee and their relatives up to the second degree are not eligible to participate.
  • There is no participation fee for entering the competition.
  1. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • File format: JPG / JPEG
  • Resolution: 300 dpi, with the longest side at least 3000 pixels
  • File size: 6MB to 25MB
  • Color profile: sRGB
  • EXIF data must be included
  • Maximum number of submissions per participant: 4
  • Each photograph must be accompanied by a title and a brief descriptive caption
  1. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
  • Photographs must be submitted electronically to info@acte.com.cy with the subject line: “Participation in the ACTE Tourism Photography Competition”
  • File naming example: A.Georgiou_01, A.Georgiou_02

The submission email must include:

  • Full name of participant
  • Contact phone number
  • Email address
  • Title and description of each photograph

Each participant may submit a single entry consisting of up to four (4) photographs, which can be in color, black and white, or a combination of both.

  1. PHOTO EDITING
  • Permitted adjustments:
  • Color correction
  • Contrast enhancement
  • Cropping

 

Not permitted:

  • Digital alterations that change the content of the photo
  • Effects, filters, or digital manipulation
  • Watermarks, logos, dates, or frames
  • Any kind of editing or alteration using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools or applications.

 

5. COPYRIGHT & DATA PROTECTION

  • The photographer retains full copyright of their work.
  • Submitted photographs must not have been awarded in any other competition.
  • Participants are solely responsible for securing the consent of any individuals depicted in their photographs. The organizers and collaborating partners shall bear no liability for any copyright infringements arising from the submissions.
  • The organizers reserve the right to use the submitted photographs, without financial obligation, for promotional purposes such as publications, websites, exhibitions, events, and other non-profit initiatives. In every instance, full credit will be given to the photographer as the creator, who will at all times remain the sole legal copyright holder of the work.
  1. JUDGING & EVALUATION PROCESS
  • The judging committee shall be composed of recognized experts in the fields of photography, tourism, and media.
  • The committe’s decision is final and binding.

 

Evaluation criteria include:

  • Original concept and creative expression
  • Technical quality
  • Emotional resonance
  • Relevance to the Competition theme
  • Narrative Strength and Artistic Interpretation
  1. AWARDS & EXHIBITION
  • Honorary Certificates will be awarded to the 10 best photographs. The top 3 winners will additionally receive hotel stays at ACTE hotel members. All participants will be granted a certificate of participation.

 

  • Additional optional distinction:
  • Audience Award through online voting.
  • Winning photographs will be showcased at a special exhibition and award ceremony.
  1. COMPETITION DURATION
  • Opening date for submissions: 5 September 2025
  • Closing date for submissions: 5 November 2025
